Description: The Chhatrapati Hivaji Terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus) in Mumbai (Bombay), built by the British in a neo-gothic style of architecture practically invented for the colonies, is one of the busiest train stations in the world. Built in 1878 and designed by William Stephens, it was extended according to demand, and now caters to the needs of three million passengers a day. It only sleeps two out of the 24 hours shown, and provides work for 400 porters, and people such as the dhaba wallahs, who carry food containers to the city offices from the suburbs, where the office workers' wives have prepared meals for their husbands.
