Description: A slideshow of some of my images of Glastonbury Tor, with two pictures showing an unexplained paranormal event.
During February 2007, as I was walking in Wellhouse lane, below the Tor, and after noticing that the birds had suddenly gone silent, I looked up at it and saw what you see; a sort of "WHITE BLOB" gliding/floating around on or near the summit.
I have placed the original photo., and a cropped enlargement here, seen in the last two images.
You can clearly see that it has the shape of the head & shoulders of human form, perhaps wearing a cloak, though that is open to interpretation. It stopped for a moment when I took the image at 1/1000 of a second (on Auto.) I had the distinct feeling that it was studying ME, even posing!
Latest theories about the Tor suggest it maybe a soul-portal, which is a gateway for beings to enter and leave our Earth, (No Hadron Collider involvement!) others, including the US TV series "Stargate SG-1" suggest a time-portal. The US TV crew filmed here some time ago for that series. I haven't yet seen those episodes.
The Tor has many legends attached to it, and undoubtedly has been used by man for over 10,000 years. It is a natural formation, but has been shaped by men.
It stands 518 feet over the surrounding countryside; the highest part of the Isle of Avalon, which is Glastonbury.
Legends and myths abound here: that it is the home of the King of the underworld, Gwyn-ap-Nudd, and that the entrance to the underworld is here, and people have looked for that gateway. Other legends speak of the Holy Grail being hidden in a secret chamber within. Certainly it looks highly likely that there are caverns and caves within, cut by the many streams which rise here; one is still in existence but is blocked by rock-fall.
Legends of tunnels from the Abbey and town still persist.
The Tower is the remains of the chapel of St. Michael, a dedication which is not uncommon, and one which the early Christians used to suppress the 'dark forces' used at places previously revered by their 'pagan' predecessors.
The original chapel fell-down in an Earthquake so the one you see is a 13th century replacement.
I use no editing software other than Google's free Picasa suite which has no facility to falsify any image, other than the usual enhancements. I have cropped on pic 2, nothing else has been done. This is a genuine image. If you can't accept that then that's your problem not mine. Don't bother commenting.
There is nothing wrong with my camera. I've taken thousands of images before and since this picture and nothing similar has appeared. There were no dust motes and no water particles; and no flash was used, it would have been silly to have used it.
Questions:
What do we actually expect something "otherwordly" to look like? A wisp of smoke? A sharply defined solid object? Something transparent? An amorphous mass of light?
This one has a sort of blue haze surrounding it in places.
It seemed to turned to face me for this image to be taken, if "Face me" are the right words, and at the distance that I was from it, it's difficult to tell. Does it indeed even have a face, or eyes?
There is symbolism to some of the images here: the four ancient elements of Earth, Air, Fire & Water are represented, but there is deeper meaning too, perhaps a warning.
With 2012 approaching, people all over the world may well report an increase in paranormal phenomena, in whatever form; UFOs included.

** Seventh Wave, the brilliant electronica duo playing the soundtrack here, is from the 1970s and not to be confused with any other band now calling itself by that name
