Ben Venue

Length: 5:43
Description: Ben Venue 'The Small Peak' although more commonly nowadays known as 'the hill of the caves' - This is the walk from Loch Ard with Ben Lomond views, to the twin peaks of Ben Venue (in the Gaelic A'Bheinn Mheanbh) and follows the Ledard burn to the head of the glen where it is possible to look back and see a distant view of Goat Fell on Arran! Most walkers head to and regard the trig point as the summit of this twin peaked mountain but the purists or Graham-baggers must head for the other summit, which is 2metres higher! The trig point on Ben Venue however can be, on occasion, a rather busy location on this very popular Trossachs mountain that generates excellent views out of all proportion to its own height. Being neither a Munro nor a Corbett, this mini-mountain appears in the Table of Grahams, those Scottish peaks between 2000 and 2500ft high. Sir Walter Scott caught everyone's imagination with the inclusion of this mountain in his writings, some of which verse is included alongside this montage.
