Parkes 3 - big train thru station

Length: 4:32
Description: In December 2005 a big container train, 3SP7—Sydney-Perth, hauled by four 3000 kW (4020 HP) 132 tonne NR class locomotives, rolls into Parkes station along the direct route from Sydney—an unusual phenomenon, since most transcontinental trains now come up from the south to avoid the steep grades and sharp curves of the Blue Mountains. Presumably the large number of locos is due to the fact that the train has taken this mountainous route. Two of the locos were probably taken off the train at Parkes. Warning! This video shows the entire train, which takes about three minutes to pass the camera point and is approximately one kilometre long.
