Onboard Acela Express train ride with GPS inside First Class

Length: 6:31
Description: My first time riding the high speed Acela in the Northeast Corridor. According to my GPS top speed was clocked at 146 mph, we did not hit the 150 mph mark, but then again, my GPS unit may have been off by a few, so I'd say we did. it was showing a +/- of about 25 FT accuracy throughout the trip. The high speed zone is just 10 miles or so south of Providence, RI and extends to Kenyon. The train seemed to hit top speed around the Kingston area. Otherwise the train cruised along at about 110mph on average due to the infrastructure, not the train itself. Then on the southern leg of the journey, the train hits around 125 mph for a short bit between Lanham and Mayfield. This is between Baltimore and Philadelphia. I splurged and got a first class ticket which allows you to use the Club Acela waiting lounge which is a lot quieter and more comfy than the general boarding area. The Boston Club Acela was the most impressive of the 2 lounges I visited. New York Penn Station and Washington D.C. Union Station being the other two along the route I've never been to the NY one, but from photos and reports, I think my assumptions may be correct, however, on my next trip, I will check it out for myself. The train walk thorugh shows me going from first class to the quiet car then onto the standard/business class car then into the Bistro/Cafe car. The bathrooms were even more impressive than the standard Amtrak trains where they try to emulate a home bathroom without all the stainless steel you see on the standard trains. The meals served at your seat on real dishes and glass were a nice touch. Warm, moist towels and the wider seats made the trip worthwhile. Since I took the whole route from beginning to end, both breakfast and lunch were served, forgot to add the lunch in the videos.
