Description: The Confederate Army took over Whitman - for a day, anyways. The 35th Virginia Cavalry sponsored a Civil War expo at the VFW post in Whitman Sunday, Feb. 17. Crowds saw authentic guns, uniforms, equipment, cooking utensils and other memorabilia from the War Between the States. There also was a cannon firing demonstration, with a team firing a couple of rounds of powder across the waterway on a cold, blustery day. The Union's New England Brigade also took part as Blue and Gray soldiers had a chance to sit down together.
