Description: The dance is typical for ancient Caucasian ethnic group, Svans (mentioned by ancient Greek geographer Strabo as Soanes), who belong to north-western Kartvelian (aka Georgian)ethnos, whilst the language belongs to South Caucasian, aka generally Kartvelian language group. Svans are mostly highlanders, although significant population is to be found in lower valleys and gorges, including Upper Abkhazeti, Georgia.
