WB UP 2080 TERRELL TX FEB 24 2007 1559 HRS

Length: 4:33
Description: February 24, 2007, 3:59PM: After waiting in the hole for two eastbound Union Pacific freights to pass by, UP No. 2080, an EMD GP60, revs up to lead a string of gondolas westward out of Terrell, TX towards Dallas on the UP Dallas Sub. It would be my last train for the day. Within 10 minutes of leaving this location after I filmed this train, a terrible dust storm blew through here due to the strong westerly winds that had been blowing across the region all day long. The dust was carried here all the way from west Texas, and also blew through the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area before arriving here. It was one of the worst dust storms to affect the area in years, and visibility was reduced to less than a quarter mile during the height of the tempest, causing DFW and other regional airports to shutdown for hours. Additionally, many districts across the Metroplex lost power during the storm. Note the horn sound, which suggests that the unit may have been a former SP or Cotton Belt unit. I'm not sure of this though.
