Description: On February 15, 2008, I set out from Chicago to Seattle aboard Amtrak's Empire Builder Train. This day's departure had an unusual consist as it was also carrying four Bombardier Bi-Level commuter cars. The cars, owned by Sound Transit, were being returned to Seattle from Washington, D.C., where they were leased by Virginia Railway Express.
This video takes us through the western descent of the Cascades as we approach the mild west coast. If the Sounder cars could talk, they would recall the frigid ride through the upper midwest and look forward to resuming residence in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
