Gjilan origin dates from 1772 and was founded by family of Gjinaj, which from 1737 has ruled a part of Kosova. Gjilan is located in Southeaster part of Kosova, region of Anamorava.
Region of Gjilan is rich with minerals (steel and lucid) and mineral sources.
