During the Vietnam war the Viet Cong maintained an immense network of connecting underground tunnels near Saigon. The Viet Cong could appear anywhere anytime for surprise attacks. The tunnels were secured by thousands of booby traps. Even heavy bombardement did not succeed in destroying them.
