This video looks at West Madeira. The subtropical, mountainous island of Madeira is an autonomous region of Portugal. Madeira Island, 57km in length, is in the Atlantic, west of Morocco. In the 16th century the Portuguese started building levadas to carry water to the agricultural regions. Tourists can take walks along the levadas.
