Heading north through Thailand, I stopped by Khao Sok National Park. I did some jungle trekking, which was beautiful and austere, but my chief goal was to see the Rafflesia, the Corpse Flower, a strange funky-smelling fungus-flower that germinates for months, blooms for just a few days, and is the largest flower in the world. I came, I saw, I hiked, and I smelled.
