The hike from the Shelving Rock Rd parking lot to this sign is 2.3 miles. The terrain gets very rugged in the last .5 mile as you get closer to the top. I must admit, the area just below the summit seemed a little spooky. As you approach the sign, there are large rocky walls on both sides. Like a wide natural hallway. One of the more interesting summits I've been to.

Rare Snow Day in The Big Easy. It snowed last, 4 years ago. Today, 11 Dec 2008, was great! My 3rd Snow Day in the last 25 years. These are of Jefferson Parish neighborhoods but with New Orleans media as a backdrop. We needed this, we waited for this and we savored it. Life is good on The Big Muddy.
