Travel Videos 365 - BETA version 1.02

A video I made in northern Japan to celebrate the explosion of cherry blossoms after a long winter. The song is called "sakura" which means cherry blossoms and the two kanji that pop up mean "cherry blossom" and later "flower viewing."

This time-lapse was created by Dave Allen, BBG's Web Manager, from over 3,000 digital photos, one taken every 3 minutes from April 18 to April 26, 2008, of Brooklyn Botanic Garden's famed Cherry Walk. Hanami is the japanese springtime tradition of having a party under blossoming cherry trees. While cuturally there is a lot of ground I could get into; its importance in poetry, samurai folk lore and japanese identity, I chose to just record people drinking.
