We visited the Catholic Orphanage outside of Cam Ranh in the winter of 2005. On the way there, we stopped to look at the fishermen in Cam Ranh Bay. Signs of flooding were everywhere; the only birds we came upon were the ducks at the orphanage, due to the avian flu outbreak. The children and the nuns at the orphanage were welcoming and warm.

In this brief video, we visit Dong Ba Thin, a former US Army Airfield during the "American War" in Vietnam. It is located on the mainland, opposite the peninsula of Cam Ranh Bay. Much of it remains under Vietnamese military control. Views, therefore, are from the outside from a distance.

We take a look at Cam Ranh Bay's past (circa 1968) and present (2006). Here, we visit the former Naval Air Facility, home to various US Navy coastal patrol squadrons and the US Army's 1st Radio Research Company during the "American War." Today, it is co-habitated by the Vietnamese Navy and a civilian aviation training center.

Vietnamese workers provide critical labor to the US military: laundry, cooking, cleaning, construction, sanitation and hundreds of other jobs.

In their free time, US soldiers, sailors and airmen at Cam Ranh Bay party, swim and sunbathe at Cam Ranh Bay's beaches during the Vietnam War.
