This is one of the best places to visit in Japan! Nijo castle is where the Tokugawa Shogunate lived from about 1604 to 1868. They ruled Japan from this castle. The paintings and decorations inside the castle are in immaculate shape considering the amount of time that has gone by.

Nijo Castle was used by the Edo-based Shogunate. The last Shogun resigned at Nijo Castle to Emperor Meiji. 1867
