This time-lapse was created by Dave Allen, BBG's Web Manager, from over 3,000 digital photos, one taken every 3 minutes from April 18 to April 26, 2008, of Brooklyn Botanic Garden's famed Cherry Walk. A video I made in northern Japan to celebrate the explosion of cherry blossoms after a long winter. The song is called "sakura" which means cherry blossoms and the two kanji that pop up mean "cherry blossom" and later "flower viewing."

Julie, Jimmy, his friend Jamie, and I went to the 2007 National Cherry Blossom Festival. This video shows the blossoms at the Jefferson memorial, our paddleboat trip, the Kite Festival, and other Spring Washington footage.

Canon City, Colorado has an annual festival. Here's a parade of marching bands and some other stuff, plus my dog howling with the emergency vehicle sirens.

Hanami is the japanese springtime tradition of having a party under blossoming cherry trees. Some footage of this year's Cherry Blossoms! The cherry blossom trees in DC were given as a gift from the people of Japan to the people of the United States in 1912. Cherry blossom time is one of the most popular times to come to Washington. In spite of everything, DC can be a lovely city.
